The Denmark vs Finland football match for the tournament was held on 12th June 2021. The match was held in a stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark. A football match lasts for two equal halves of 45 minutes. A few minutes before the half time, 29 year old Christian Eriksen from the Denmark team collapsed face first on the field. He was completely unconscious. Everyone was stunned. Spectators did not seem to understand what was going on. A hush fell over the loud stadium. People were confused as to whether he was dead or alive. Some were in tears. The game was immediately stopped by the referee and he called for doctors. Doctors rushed to the field performed CPR and chest compressions. The Danish players surrounded Christian Eriksen to prevent the media from capturing pictures while the doctors performed CPR.

Eriksen’s wife Sabrina Kvist Jensen, rushed to the pitch on hearing about her husband and was consoled by Denmark’s captain and goalkeeper. Eriksen was then taken to the hospital. Later the Denmark Football Association Tweeted, There is nothing to worry. He is fine. 'Eriksen is awake and at the hospital undergoing treatment.’ After the tweet people breathed a sigh of relief. 2 hours after Eriksen was taken to the hospital, the football match resumed.
