The News Cover: A new strain of the Coronavirus was found in India last year and it was called the ‘Delta Variant’ or B.1.617.2. Studies have found the variant to be highly contagious. It has spread to 60 countries over the past six months. A study by the Indian government stated that India's second wave was because of the Delta Variant. Doctors in India say that it is also possibly more severe than other strains of coronavirus.

The Delta Variant causes blood clots, severe tonsillitis, gangrene, and loss of hearing, and many others. Vaccines create antibodies that help to defend the body from the coronavirus. Emerging scientific evidence indicates that Delta variants may be able to evade antibodies and infect. Experts hence want pharmaceutical companies to tweak the formula for existing vaccines to ensure protection against the Delta Variant.

After facing the world's worst coronavirus outbreak, India's COVID-19 situation is finally improving. Countries like Britain, Vietnam, Singapore, and Taiwan, are experiencing fresh outbreaks because of the Delta Variant and other COVID strains. This is why there are now calls for faster immunization.
