The News Cover: India is battling the 2nd wave of the Coronavirus which has led to a shortage of oxygen, medicines, and hospital beds. However, at the same time, their campaigns for the 2021 elections were being held. This was going on despite the current situation. Election results have been announced for the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam & Puducherry. 

Let me tell you about it. West Bengal Chief Minister & TMC leader Mamata Banerjee aggressively campaigned prior to the elections. While the opposition did the same. There was strong competition between the two parties. TMC has now beat the BJP in these elections. Mamata Banerjee is set to begin her third consecutive term as the chief minister of Bengal. Mamata lost her seat in Nandigram but she won the state. 

For 10 years the AIADMK had governed in Tamil Nadu. M K Stalin, the DMK president, had waited for 40 years to be Tamil Nadu’s CM. After a long wait, the 68-year-old is all set to become the Chief Minister and make his dream come true. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, a CPI(M) leader after his first term had stood for selections. He has now won and will become the CM again. In Kerala's history, he is the first to continue in office after completing a full term. He is 76 years old. BJP is set to form the government in Assam for the second consecutive time. The AINRC will take power in union territory Puducherry after winning 16 seats in the 30-member assembly.
