Kannada Actor Arjun Gowda Becomes Ambulance Driver

The News Cover: India is grappling with the second wave of the Covid-19. Amidst this, some celebrities traveled to international destinations and shamelessly showed that off on social media. They were criticized on social media for being insensitive towards India's situation. There is a shortage of hospital beds, medicines, oxygen cylinders, and people are suffering People said celebrities instead of helping are on a vacation, and being Indian citizens they should be ashamed of themselves. However, there are also many celebrities who are lending a helping hand during the pandemic. 

Let me tell you about them. Kannada actor Arjun Gowda has volunteered to be an ambulance driver. He has partnered with NGO Project Smile Trust. The number of cases in Karnataka is rising. There is an acute shortage of ambulances. Arjun Gowda decided to help ferry Covid-19 patients to the hospitals and to their homes. and also help in carrying out the last rites. Arjun said that he has been driving the ambulance for a few days and helped a few people for final rites. He said he would help anyone in need irrespective of who they are and what religion they practice.  

Arjun is planning to do this work not just for a few days but for the next 2-3 months. He said he is also taking all the necessary precautions to keep himself safe. Since the number of infections is increasing, it is my responsibility to help as there is a shortage of ambulances. Social media users appreciated his initiative. Many commented they were proud of the actor and were inspired by his hard work. There are other celebrities as well who are helping in the pandemic. Let me tell you about them. 

Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas have donated money as well as set up a fundraiser with NGO GiveIndia. The donated money will be used in India for setting up covid care centers, for purchasing oxygen, vaccine, etc. Actor Suniel Shetty is involved with #KVNFoundation, to provide free oxygen concentrators. Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle Khanna - sign name - have donated 100 oxygen concentrators to an NGO. Salman Khan distributed food across Mumbai, offering meals to healthcare workers and police working for the covid patients. This was done through a food truck that traveled to different parts of Mumbai. The initiative feeds over 5,000 people daily. Ajay Devgn - sign name - has donated Rs. 1 crore to BMC for installing a 20-bed COVID-19 ICU.
