Cloudburst In Uttarakhand Damages Houses & Shops

 The News Cover: Cloudburst, is a sudden, very heavy rainfall, usually local in nature. On 11th May, there was a Cloudburst in Uttarakhand's Devprayag. Several shops and houses were damaged because of the heavy rainfall. According to officials, the cloudburst hit at around 5 pm yesterday. Fortunately, since most of these shops were closed due to Covid restrictions, there was not a single fatality as no one was on the streets. Uttarakhand police chief Ashok Kumar, “No casualties have been reported yet. 

SDRF - which is the state disaster management teams - have reached the spot to help with the rising water levels." More details awaited. Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat tweeted that no life was lost in the incident. He has sought a detailed report from the district administration about the damage. There have been many such incidences in Uttarakhand. A few months back, a glacial break triggered flash flood in Rishiganga river in the Chamoli area. 200 people died or went missing.
