Virat Kohli Sets up Two Animal Shelters in Mumbai

The News Cover: Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma welcomed daughter Vamika in January 2021. Virat has his own foundation called the ‘Virat Kohli Foundation. The Foundation mainly focuses on supporting aspiring athletes from across the country. 

The cricketer has even collaborated with several NGOs that help the needy. Virat and Anushka are ardent animal lovers. This is why they set up two animal shelter homes in Malad and Boisar in Mumbai. The announcement was made on World Stray Animals' Day on 4th April. 

The day is dedicated to stray dogs, cats, etc who do not have a home. On this day Virat made the announcement of his animal shelters. The Malad center will be a temporary rehab, cats, dogs, etc where they will be treated for injuries, illnesses, etc. 

This is a temporary shelter after treatment they will be sent back. Boisar facility will take care of blind and paralyzed animals and those suffering from life-long diseases. Kohli has also sponsored an ambulance for the animals. 

Kohli said Anushka’s passion to help animals across India is what inspired him to set up animal shelters. He also mentioned his foundation has collaborated with Vivaldis, which is an Indian animal healthcare company. Awaaz Voice of Stray Animals, an NGO is also supporting the foundation and guiding them.
