The News Cover: 39 people were killed in a huge fire that broke out in an office building in central Kolkata strand road on Monday evening among the dead are firemen a police officer a railways officer a security person is what officials have said five of the seven bodies were found in an elevator on the twelfth floor the victims appeared to have suffocated and burned to death inside.

the lift west Bengal "chief minister Mamata Banerjee" also reached the spot yesterday at night at around 11 pm let's go across to money a terrible terrible fire and four firemen were killed in this fire indeed the firemen it seems as well as a police officer and perhaps some other personnel we don't know who the tragedy is really struck because they all went up to the 12th floor we believe in an elevator

when the fire was actually perhaps raging and the fire had broken out on the 13th floor at around 6:30 but it was only late in the evening that it was detected that these persons were missing and that they had gone up in that elevator shocking

the fire minister in Bengal has said that there will be some kind of probe into why the elevator was used because that standard operating procedure every time you climb on an elevator you know you'll have that legend saying do not use in case of fire so that was a terribly tragic because otherwise there were no injuries no other person suffered in this fire the building was quickly evacuated when it broke out the fire broke out,

however, there are two people missing so nine people are dead the eighth and ninth persons may have been railway officials working on those two illustrated floors now month apparently went in and made a point of saying that this is railway property um but there was no cooperation from the railway they did not get a map of the building that would have helped you know the fire engines the firemen, to do the rescue operation and she also regretted that there was nobody from the railway's department.

at the site when she arrived there around 11:00 however since then we've had the railway minister tweeting about this condoling of the families of those who have lost their loved ones and this morning the "prime minister has tweeted and you know expressed his confidences at the horrific incident a very tragic loss of life nine people at this building on strand road prime minister's tweeted this morning saddened by the loss of lives due to the fire tragedy in Kolkata in this hour of sadness my thoughts are with the bereaved families may the injured recover at the earliest.
