News Cover: Veteran South Indian actor Rajinikanth had launched his political party named Rajini Makkal Mandram. He was supposed to make an announcement about the political course for his party on 31st December. Doctors had advised the actor against a hectic lifestyle since he underwent a kidney transplant in 2016.

He said that he does not care about his life. He wants to help change the lives of people in Tamil Nadu by working in politics. A few days back he was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad for his fluctuating blood pressure levels. He was discharged and doctors advised him to rest for 2 weeks. On Tuesday 29th December he will take a step back from politics. In a three-page statement that he posted on Twitter, the actor has issued an apology.

He said he is heartbroken that he won't be able to join politics because of his health. Only he can understand the pain. Rajinikanth said despite his doctors advice to rest, he travelled to Hyderabad for the shooting of ‘Annaatthe’ a Tamil movie. The actor said that, there were a total of 150 people on set including makeup artists, light techs, etc. Out of 150, 4 tested positive. He said coronavirus can spread among such a small number of people, if large campaigns with lakhs of people assemble for his party, the infection will spread rapidly. Rajinikanth does not want this.

He said that he can't connect people through social media. To connect with people, he needs to physically go various areas of Tamil Nadu inorder to motivate people and bring about a change. However, now there is a pandemic. Plus with the new strain of COVID-19 it is impossible. Amid the new coronavirus if a large crowd gathers, his life as well as that of others will be in danger. Rajnikanth wants people to be safe. When he ignored his health and continue with his work he was hospitalised. Rajnikanth felt this was a sign from God telling him to take a step back from politics. Members of his party are very disappointed with this news.
