Former PM Manmohan Singh said, 'When 84 Sikh riots were happening in Delhi, Gujral ji went to the then Home Minister Narasimha Rao. He told Rao that the situation was very serious and the government needed to call the army as soon as possible, but the then government did not listen to Gujral's advice.

What happened in the Sikh riots? 

Indira Gandhi was assassinated in 1984 by her bodyguards. After this, anti-Sikh riots broke out in many cities of the country. More than 3 thousand people were killed across the country. More than 2 thousand people died in Delhi alone. It is said that some Congress party workers were actively involved in it. After the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the crowd came out on the streets and shouting blood for blood.

Lots of looting and murders were committed in many areas of Delhi. After looting shops, houses and gurudwaras, they were set on fire. Murder and rape in Sikh settlements, slums and villages of Pakistan along with looting and arson incidents were carried out. Homes were set on fire and men and young boys were beaten to death with a sword. Some were burnt alive. A large number of women were abducted and raped.

Manmohan Singh said this: Manmohan Singh said, "Gujral ji was so worried that he went to the then Home Minister Narasimha Rao that evening in the evening. He said that the situation was so serious that the government should call the army as soon as possible. If this advice was implemented, the 1984 massacre could have been avoided. ''
